guidelines

To be considered for our second volume, please submit your work to us by October 1st, 2024. We are open to receiving research papers, critical analyses, and original essays. We do not accept creative work. Work must engage with at least one queer and/or feminist theory of sex, sexuality, and/or gender in order to be considered.

Authors must have written their work while at the undergraduate level and must submit their work during their undergraduate careers or within six months of graduation. Authors may only submit one piece at a time for consideration. Work may not be submitted or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Submissions should not exceed 5000 words in length, excluding footnotes and bibliography.

Submission format and citations must be in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style’s Notes and Bibliography system.

instructions

To submit, send your work in an email to intarsiajournal@gmail.com, the subject line of which must indicate that you’ve included a submission for consideration. You may include your name, year, and institution in the body of your email, but please remove any identifying information from your submission itself. Your submission must be composed of two attachments. You must include (1) the work in its entirety and (2) an abstract of about 250 words. Both attachments should be in PDF format.

PEER-REVIEW & REQUESTS FOR REVISION

Submissions are reviewed through a double-blind peer-review process. Once your submission is reviewed, you will be notified of either our (1) acceptance without further revision, (2) acceptance with further revision, (3) recommendation for revision and resubmission, or (4) denial. If your initial submission is denied, please do not be discouraged from submitting other work!

before publication

After we accept a submission, Intarsia editors will reach out to the author and request that they sign an agreement prior to publication. The author agreement will concern copyright; authors must agree to the usage of Creative Commons license in order to be published.
